Micromax Launched Canvas Spark 2 for Rs. 3,999



Indian mobile manufacturer Micromax on Monday launched the Canvas Spark 2 the company’s latest budget smartphone in the Canvas series for Rs 3999,the Canvas Spark 2 is touted as ‘India ka 3G Phone’ that attempts to break all the price barriers.The highlight of the handset is its impressive set of specifications, latest Android version, and support for 3G connectivity at a low-price tag of Rs. 3,999. The handset will go on sale in its first flash sale starting September 30 at 12 noon on Snapdeal. The registration for it will begin on Wednesday at 10am.

Continuing its years-long effort to tap the affordable segment of the increasingly competitive smartphone market,It sports a 5-inch display of FWVGA (480x854) screen resolution. It is powered by a quad-core chipset clocked at 1.3GHz. It comes with a 4GB internal storage, which can be expanded using a microSD card (up to 32GB).

On the photography front, the Canvas Spark 2 is equipped with a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front facing selfie camera. There is also a 1,800mAh battery which Micromax claims to offer up to 324 hours of backup on standby mode.

With the Canvas Spark 2, we are yet again reaffirming our commitment to massify the smartphone and Internet usage in the  country.Currently, smartphone penetration stands at 12% in the country and 3G adoption is also barely 10%, which presents a huge opportunity to upgrade. We believe that the e commerce channel is also expanding and the 3-4K category will be the next frontier. Micromax with its strong brand presence and great product offering focused on democratizing technology, has historically cemented itself as the most preferred brand for the mass smartphone segment. With this launch, we are looking at adding a further impetus to this and drive the overall entry into smartphone category.", said Vineet Taneja, CEO, Micromax.

The dual-SIM capable Canvas Spark 2 supports 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and other standard connectivity options. On the software front, the phone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box with Micromax custom skin atop, which is rather impressive for a phone of sub-Rs. 4,000 category.

The company has also pre-loaded support for 10 regional languages, Firstouch launcher and apps such as Scandid, Kindle, Hotstar, Clean Master, Swiftkey and Snapdeal.While the Canvas Spark 2 is an affordable 3G smartphone, it will face tough competition from the likes of Yu Yunique, Phicomm Energy 653 and Lenovo A2010, all of which are 4G LTE-equipped smartphones that cost just Rs 1,000 more.

The Micromax Canvas Spark 2 comes in Black color and is priced at Rs. 3,999. It also comes with set of accessories such as charger, data cable, earphones and screen protector in the box.
