A car made in just 72 hours!

A car made using a 3D-Printer proved to be a head-turner at the show.

International Manufacturing Technology Show which was held in Chicago, chaos was created by a small=scale Arizona-based car maker, who brought a car that was made in approximately 3 days. The car which was made using a mere 3D printer took 44 hours for the printing completion and was assembled in 2 days. One of the videos of the making below shows the manufacturing process:

Owners decided to name the 'achievement' as "Strati'. Strati, claimed to be the world's first car to be 3D printed monocoque chassis, was revealed when it was being printed and was assembled at the exhibition in Chicago in September, 2014.
Michele Anoé of Italy submitted the design to Local Motors' Direct Digital Manufacture Car Design Challenge.

Local Motors along with Cincinnati Inc, Oak Ridge National Labs and the Thermwood corporation developed the technology themselves to build the car. Thermwood provided a 5 axis router to perform the subtractive operations for both aesthetic design, and to create precision surfaces for mounting suspension / drivetrain components and Cincinnati built the BAAM (Big Area Additive Machine) to print the car.
